Minimum Essential Medium (MEM) is one of the most commonly used cell culture media. This medium has demonstrated the ability to support a variety of normal and transformed cells in culture and contains Earle’s Balanced Salts, which make it suitable for use in atmospheres charged with CO₂ gas.
Its formulation with Earle’s salts is without sodium bicarbonate. It contains L-Glutamine and non essential amino-acids.
