Schneider’s Insect Medium was developed to encourage the growth of Imaginal Discs excised from Drosophila melanogaster, the fruit fly.
Schneider’s Drosophila Medium also promotes rapid growth of both primary and existing cell cultures derived from Drosophila spp and several other dipterans when supplemented with 5-20% heat-inactivated fetal bovine serum.
